I’ve always struggled to answer the question, “What kind of scents do you like?”

Not because I didn’t know, but because the answer was never simple.

I was rarely interested in the fragrances everyone else seemed to love simply because everyone else loved them. I never understood the universal affection for certain perfumes, and there were notes I knew almost immediately weren’t for me. Roses, for example, and I have never really seen eye to eye.

What excited me instead were the fragrances that made me curious. The ones that made me pause for a second longer than usual because I couldn’t quite place what I was experiencing yet. Over time, I realised I wasn’t really searching for fragrance at all. I was searching for experiences.

Mivella grew out of a way of seeing the world. Not from a desire to make candles, but from a fascination with atmosphere and the quiet ways it shapes our lives.

Somewhere along the way, I realised that many of us are looking for the same thing. Not better taste. Not rarer things. Not more things. Just experiences that feel like they belong to us. The ones we discover for ourselves.

Everything we create begins there. With curiosity, atmosphere, and the belief that everyday life deserves beauty, character, and moments worth noticing.

If our fragrances find their way into your home, my hope is not simply that they smell beautiful, I hope they become part of your rituals, your gatherings, your quiet mornings and long afternoons and part of the memories that are still waiting to happen.
